Next day shipping refund

Customer has ordered and paid for next day shipping. We shipped promptly and the delivery was attempted the next day but the customer was not home and the customer picked up the package the next day

Customer has returned the product. We issued refund for the product but not for the shipping. Customer contacted Amazon directly and customer service issued refund for next day shipping. We did not find it fair as we were out of the money since it went to the carrier for next day shipping.

We filed a Safe-T claim asking for reimbursement Case 16876835491 but were denied.

Did we approach it the right way and if so we will probably stop offering next day shipping as it's too much money we are out of and it's not worth it. Please advise.

I see that as the solution. Many would disagree.

Any sort of super hurry-up shipping carries trouble in its wake. The buyer wakes up in the morning, realizes they needed something day before yesterday, so places an order. And now it is your fault they didn't have it day before yesterday when they needed it.
