De-registering for VAT

Morning all,

Sales are now so low that I am considering deregistering for VAT. What kind of hell can I expect Amazon to unleash on me.

We deregistered some time ago. Just delete your VAT number from Amazon. You can sign for the VAT Calc service so that Amazon still provide invoice for your customers. (can’t remember the link but should be fairly easy to find. Remember they will charge you VAT on all their fees & it may take them a week or so for the changes to take place, but I think you can forward date your deregistration on Amazon.
Your listings will show “No VAT On This Offer” & " Seller has self-declare that this offer is not subject to VAT Learn more

If its just for uk, and you are in uk, you should just need to deregister with hmrc and I believe when you remove your vat number from amazon, they may ask for your deregistration certificate
The only issue I’ve heard of is that amazon may not allow you to activate the VAT Calculation services to send your invoices for you and as this is a ‘measurable’ metric, you’ll need to keep on top of it
