Shipping Pallets from California to FBA DC's
Is anyone aware of any Amazon algorithms regarding shipping LTL to Amazon DC's. Shipments generally for 10 to 20 pallets every few weeks and my pricing is all over the board. Shipments with the exact same products, weight and have price ranges all over the place. Always try to ship to as many locations as possible.

Hello @Seller_9RBuE4wabYoTE
Christine here from Amazon Forums.
Amazon's LTL pricing can fluctuate due to various factors related to their network and distribution needs.
What Affects LTL Pricing?
1. Current DC Capacity:
- Amazon routes shipments based on warehouse capacity, so some fulfillment centers might have higher costs due to being overcrowded or temporarily full.
- Seasonal demand also plays a huge role in pricing and routing. Expect costs to shift around holidays or busy periods.
2. Distance-Based Variables:
- Fuel surcharges can add to costs, and depending on where your shipment is going, that can make a noticeable difference.
- The availability of regional carriers also impacts rates.
- Shipping across state lines (interstate) vs. within the same state (intrastate) usually leads to different costs.
3. Network Optimization:
- Amazon’s network is always in flux based on inventory needs across the country, so shipments might be rerouted to balance things out.
- Shipping rates can change depending on whether it's peak or off-peak season, so if you're shipping during a busy time, you may face higher costs.
How to Manage Your Shipping Costs:
Timing Strategies:
- Keep an eye on your shipping costs over time—this can help you spot patterns and plan better.
- Try to ship during off-peak periods (after the holiday rush, for example). You might see lower rates.
- Mid-week shipments (Tuesday-Thursday) tend to be cheaper than those on Mondays or Fridays.
Planning Ahead:
- Create multiple shipping plans to compare costs before locking anything in.
- Amazon’s Inventory Placement Service can help with more predictable costs, though it does have its own fees.
- Consolidate shipments when possible—this can save a lot, especially on smaller shipments.
Keep Track of Costs:
- Track your shipping costs and note patterns. This will help you figure out which fulfillment centers are cheaper and which ones tend to cost more.
Hope this information works for you, let me know if you have any other concern or questions.
Christine.
