A-z claim, wants to have card recharged

Bit confused. Had an A-z claim auto granted today as didn’t have the tracking filled in, fair enough. The buyer now says he still wants the item (original one sent went missing in post) and so has asked Amazon to re-charge his card.

However, not sure whether the email Amazon have sent to me is correct, as it seems to say I should send the item first and then it will be re-charged:

Details: Customer is contacting us about an order which claim was granted and refund was processed, please confirm the replacement and send it as soon as possible, so that we can proceed with the recharge.

Surely, like the original sale, should I not have the credit repaid before sending to him. Any advice from anyone who’s been in this situation much appreciated

Also confused. Did your buyer receive the item after all? If so, then Amazon should re-charge his card.

If he didn’t receive it, then do you have another to send him? If so, he just needs to order it.

Sounds to me, since the buyer wants his card recharged, that his order actually arrived and he is honest enough to want to pay for it.
If it was a case of “It never arrived, I’ve been refunded but still want it” then why wouldn’t he simply place a new order?
Do not send a replacement.

This sounds like a scam. The buyer is basically asking you to send him an additional free item after already getting a full refund.

Do you believe he will eventually agree to have his card recharged?

If he wants a replacement, ask him to place a new order.

49 Shades Of Grey. Yikes! I am certain that if I studied the Seller/Buyer T&Cs, a difinitive answer would slip between my hoary and gnarled metaphorical fingers.

Good Luck!

I’ve had this happen twice over the years and both time the buyer was just being honest and wanted to make sure I received tthe money. I had to call Amazon CS (not SS) and they recharde the customers card. Which I’m sure is a little bit illegal but hey-ho - I got my money.

If we were in the same situation, I would just ask the buyer to reorder (as @Adrian has said a few times), and treat it as a completely different order - and take the metrics hit on the original. It’s unlikely to go missing in the post a 2nd time, so you’re not likely to get a 2nd A-Z from the same buyer if they’re honest.

Echoing others on here, if you don’t want to do this then make sure you’ve received the money before shipping the replacement, as seller support are well known for telling sellers what they want to hear, not necessarily what will actually be done.
