Urgent Assistance Needed – Incorrect FBA Fees Due to Outdated Package Dimensions

Hello fellow sellers,

I'm seeking support with an ongoing issue regarding incorrect FBA fees being charged on every sale of our new ASIN. We've put in substantial effort to ensure our packaging meets the requirements for a lower FBA tier, yet Amazon continues to charge us incorrectly based on outdated measurements.

We recently launched a new ASIN (ASIN 2) under the same parent listing as our older product (ASIN 1). To provide context:

  • ASIN 1 (old product): The original box dimensions were 11.1 x 6.02 x 2.24 inches back in 2019, but over the years (2019-2024), we have gradually reduced this to 10.91 x 6.02 x 2.13 inches.
  • ASIN 2 (new product): Launched in April 2024, the box was specifically designed to be even smaller at 10.25 x 5.5 x 2.25 inches due to the product containing fewer items.

Despite the redesign of ASIN 2 to make it more compact for efficient shipping and to fit within the lower FBA tier (with $4.55 fees), Amazon continues to assign the outdated 2019 measurements from ASIN 1’s original box (11.1 x 6.02 x 2.24 inches).

We’ve requested multiple rescans (cubiscans), yet Amazon keeps returning the old measurements from ASIN 1 (measurements that haven't been used in years). As a result, we're being charged higher FBA fees based on incorrect dimensions and weights, with Amazon reporting ASIN 2’s dimensional weight as 1.02 lbs, while it should be 0.91 lbs.

This is incredibly frustrating as we’ve invested significant time and effort into optimizing our packaging for environmental efficiency and cost-effectiveness. We urgently need a human review of the situation to correct the assigned dimensions and refund the overcharged FBA fees. This has been going on since April.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue, and how were you able to resolve it? Any guidance or advice would be greatly appreciated. Amazon support has been unhelpful so far, and we're hoping to escalate this to someone who can sincerely look into it.

Thank you for your help!

Hi @Seller_iArcPXurfBUCW,

Dominic from Amazon here, when you launched the new product was the old ASIN entirely out of stock in Amazon FC's? If not what may have occurred is when you requested the re-measurement an old packaging unit was pulled.

Best,

Dominic

Hi Dominic,

Thank you for your support on this matter.

We received confirmation that the measurements for our FNSKU have been updated to the following:

  • Length: 10.31 inches
  • Width: 5.51 inches
  • Height: 2.32 inches
  • Weight: 0.93 pounds

This now correctly places the product in the right FBA size category, charging $4.55 per sale (instead of $4.99). However, we also received the message: "We have reviewed your reimbursement request and found that the change in the weight or dimensions for FNSKU B0******** has not resulted in any reimbursement of FBA fees to your account."

Since we have sold 754 units of this product at the higher FBA fee, this results in an overcharge of $0.44 per unit, totaling $331.76 in FBA fees alone (excluding any additional inventory-related fees). Given that the packaging has consistently been this size since launch, we believe this reimbursement is owed.

Could you please escalate this matter to ensure the appropriate reimbursement is processed?

The Case ID is the same as yesterday: 16333470001

Thanks again for your assistance.

Kind regards,

Peter

Hi @Dominic_Amazon,

We still haven't been refunded for the fees, because Amazon is not acknowledging the fact that our product has always been in this size tier.

I know that starting on October 23rd, Amazon has reduced the time in which we can claim back overpaid FBA fees. However, we have been claiming this since April, when the fees were first imposed. Yet nobody is responding or backdating the charges for all units sold this year (which were sold at the higher FBA tier even though the packaging has always been this size -- Amazon was simply recalling old data from the other Child ASIN under the same parent listing).

We have opened 6 Case IDs discussing this issue since April 2024. We're not having much luck with Seller Support since the threads seem to be automated, with canned responses.

Please can you look into this and help to issue the reimbursement for all of the overpaid FBA fees this year? Soon we will not be able to claim, since we are outside of the time frame. But also, we cannot claim because nobody seems to be acknowledging the problem.

Case IDs attached below.

Thanks very much @Dominic_Amazon.

Best regards,

Peter
