Uk seller, sole trader, not hit VAT limit yet, selling only to UK, Amazon taking VAT from me?

As above I am a sole trader (account was transferred to me from a previous Ltd company that went bust last April).

I have declared that I am VAT exempt since I have yet to hit the £90K limit (of course I will register for VAT if that happens).

I am selling only to UK customers. I have been verified via KYC and have an email from them saying I am an established UK business.

Amazon on my first 7 orders have taken VAT under some legislation called "Marketplace Facilitator order".

As far as I can tell, since I am a) established in the UK b) selling to the UK an c) not VAT registered, then Amazon should not be taking VAT from my orders right?

I am going round and round in circles with them so would welcome so advice from anyone having managed through the same issues.

Many thanks.

Paul.

Do you/all the owners live in this country? If not the business is required to be VAT registered here.

Has all the account info been properly changed in Amazon to reflect new owner(s)?

You had an email from Amazon explicitly saying they accept you are an established local business??

I didnt think you could transfer an amazon account in that way (especially when the business is in liquidation) so has it definitely changed over properly?

Hello @Seller_xkfQZNDCSCGhO,

Do you still have this issue ? If yes, could you share the performance notification or the email where Amazon informed you about taking VAT from you ?

Also, did you check it with Seller Support and your tax advisor ?

Regards,

Sakura
