FBA Missing Inventory, A Consistent Problem

Hello,

I've been using FBA for almost 2 years and I've had such a consistent streak of items going missing once delivered in Amazon - i've refined my practises over time, and still i notice things going missing

I apply for reimbursement, send proof of ownership, delivery and packing...and still sometimes they say 'we have checked twice and double count, but can't find them, we dont reimburse in line with our policy' - this is causing me huge financial losses

Does anyone know the definitive BEST way to prevent this or remedy it when it goes wrong? here's what i do currently:

  • I label everything regardless if it says manufacturer barcode or not,
  • I use high quality labels, i test them for stick and smudge
  • I try to back the SAME items in 1 box, though this can be very impractical sometimes
  • I send my shipping labels in water and tamper proof plastic covers
  • I used anti tamper stickers on my boxes
  • I use double cardboard strength boxes
  • Items are packed structurally, not just thrown in
  • i video record myself packing the boxes now, this is new...I'll see the efficacy of this
  • I log shipping information...packing list vs box, tracking of shipment, the invoice of items I sent per shipment

Any suggestions would be of great use

Like i say, I've lost so much money with this..in the beginning it's a learning curve, but now...i feel i can do nothing more to protect my goods and it's becoming an absurd amount of money just 'lost' - i feel like i am being stolen from

Many thanks

From your post it is unclear whether it is just small number of items per shipment going missing or entire boxes.

It sounds from what you have written that you are doing everything well and you shouldn't be having too many issues.

Frustratingly it is not unusual for Amazon to lose a small number of items when they check a box in. This happens to most sellers and in my experience the smaller the items the more likely it is to happen. Getting a reimbursement can then be difficult and sometimes impossible.

It should be noted that I don't think it matters how you pack the boxes, I suspect when Amazon receive it they are all just emptied and scanned...it doesn't really matter how you have packed them. Obviously they should be packed so things don't get broken but otherwise I don't think it matters.

Also with the video great for your own records but it is absolute no proof to Amazon. They don't know if you removed items after the video was taken.

If it is entire boxes going missing it might be useful to specify which carrier you use. Is it a carrier on the approved list?

Same is happening to me, once shipment is to storage in Saxony (East Germany), nearly all the time some 1-2 items are stolen. I think they employ unreliable cheap staff to do it and they steal. And we pay.
