shipping rate issue

so i got my first sale of 1 product. i checked shipping its costing me too much so I am ending up paying 4-5$ from my pocket. dont know how to handle this. the shipping was set to %5.69.

Then I changed the shipping to 11.99. while I was doing that

Then after few min got the order but 2 products ordered by same person. That person paid $7 shipping. dont know how is that possible. its in a different province and is costing me $29. If I cancel the order will this have any impact. I am new here so just searching and navigating.

Yes, cancelling the order will affect your ODR. They do drop off after seven days, but that is if you figure it out and don't cancel anymore. You can put your account on Vacation mode to stop further sales, until you can figure out how much shipping to charge, or how much your product should cost. The shipping charge is for anywhere in Canada. Personally, I have mine set to where I eat a few bucks on ones across the country, but save a few on in province, so it kind of balances out.

You should check out all shipping options, depending on what your product is, how large, shipping requirements, weight, etc. If small enough, you can use Canada Post pre-paid boxes and ship anywhere in Canada for around $20-25. Have you gotten quotes from shippers like Purolator? I also use a freight forwarder, who gets better Canada Post rates on a lot of things.

Lots to research and learn before you start selling. Good luck to you.

Professional or personal account? If you have a PRO account you need to figure out how much to charge as an average thru the 10 provinces. The territories can have their own shipping cost schedule. If you are on a personal account, not much you can do but upgrade to a pro account.

You could try Freightcom/Clickship as they provide decent rates and they are integrated with Amazon.
