Royal Mail being slow again

Seems like that time of the year again when Royal Mail are getting very delayed with a lot of parcels.

Anyone facing similar?

It may be a regional thing. Some areas busier than others?
I have had packages arriving 2-3 days (2nd class parcels.)
The tracked 24/48 services are fine too

Nope. Everything getting to the customer on time, throughout the country. RM is our main carrier too. I would agree with Amaback, probably a regional or local issue.

Royal Mail are actually doing good this year.

Also I’ve received mail in the post saying that Royal Mail will deliver in mornings as well as up to 7:30pm due to the busy periods throughout December.

So the postman can come twice at 9am and again at 7pm or anytime throughout the day.

ive had a few delays nothing to be worried about yet as they are few and far between good job for tracking

We are starting to see delays, in our area at-least. Couple of emails this week (haven’t heard from people for a while) stating non-delivery, luckily both delivered shortly after the email, but we are talking 7 calendar days from dispatch, when we use RM48…

Yeah RM seems to be slowing down (as usual). Had a few ‘did not arrive’ emails, though funnily enough only on the unsigned for items i’ve sent, funny that. It doesn’t help that a lot of the scammers come out of the woodwork at this time of year to do a bit of xmas shopping for free!

I’ve had things I posted by 2nd class at about 4pm arriving the next day which is awsome as customers are happy (wish they’d leave feedback to state that haha

@sim_0102 When you say lots… what percentage are you talking about? Don’t forget there was some flooding two weeks back - and some areas could still be catching up… just a thought to bear in mind.

This is one of the only times of the year when 1st and 2nd class actually mean something. It’s an interesting question that I guess a lot of people don’t think about! Why does 1st class cost more compared to 2nd class? 1st class is meant to get their faster then 2nd class… but if you put a letter in a post box it’s collected at the same time… it arrives at the local office at the same time… When the post is busy the rule is that 1st class is sorted / processed before 2nd class. So if it’s the middle of July and post is slow you can send 2nd class all day long and it should get there the same time as 1st class… but at this time of the year 2nd class means all the 1st class bags are sorted first and transported first so this can lead to long delays for 2nd class post as if it’s delayed by 1 day at each of the processes it goes through it can mean taking 4+ days to be processed and get out for delivery. My local postman says their main issue is the amount of small parcels they’re having to deliver from online sellers using the 24/48 services and also a few Amazon parcels from time to time.
