What happens if I lose my phone and cant get OTP to log in?
Hi I have been wondering since the intro of OTP codes for log in how would I log in if I lost my phone.?..amazon would presumably advise me to log a case but of course I couldnt log in to do that? Is there an official answer or anyyone experienced this?

As a backup now, either add a second number or, download the authenticator app on your PC

Hi Little Shop, which authenticator app is this, and how do you add it to your Amazon account and computer (Mac). Thanks

sounds like a good idea to add 2nd number but just been into my account but only seems to be space for one??

I’ve got 2 on mine
I did it years ago though so wonder if you can now only add one due to being able to use an authenticator app ?!

I have two mobiles on mine, which I only added a few months ago

Yes, I’ve put aside a couple of old mobiles just for doing OTP. I keep them in a safe place and don’t take them out.
Annoying, because they are lot my reliable than my current ailing not-so-smartphone for simply making calls…

Use Authy (you’ll need to Google it)

This weird. I have Microsoft Authenticator on my iPhone, but can’t seem to find it on my Mac desktop? How do you get Microsoft Authenticator on a Mac desktop? Thanks

Another option I have just thought of that might work (on a Mac) is enable Messages (the Apple text messaging system) - but i don’t know if you need to have your iPhone in range of the computer (Mac) for it to work. Does anyone know if text messages still come through on a Mac if your iphone is turned off / lost / out of range etc etc?

I use the google authenticator but it makes sense to make sure that you have your mobile number up to date, and it couldn’t hurt for someone that you trust to also have it in case the worst happens.

WinAuth is an open-source Windows Authenticator supporting Google Authenticator. I am using the Google Authenticator on my Android device for 2FA, and it makes sense to have a back-up option so I am considering this one as WinAuth can apparently be used from Windows, can anyone comment on this if it is any good?
