Has anyone ever been able to get their automated removal fees reimbursed by Amazon?
I had 600-odd fulfillable units removed due to to a simple error of not including my return address. Admittedly they hadn't sold for quite some time but we were just finishing a new marketing campaign to be produced for it (it's a brand new product category).
The SC interface instructions say "If no return address is provided, you can choose to liquidate your eligible inventory." but if you choose return then that liquidate option never shows (which it didn't for me). Somehow I was able to save the settings without a return address.
So now the items have been destroyed and I can't get them back. i understand this is in the terms and conditions but the thing that really gets me is that I receive absolutely no warning or notification of this: nada ... it appears that my email address wasn't filled in on the "automated fulfillable inventory" page and that might be the reason. But surely anyone with common sense would think that notifications should be sent to the main account email instead? If that had happened I would have just made a single order for the product myself to delay the automated removal.
So I'm not only out of pocket for the stock costs but also they're going to charge me removal fees. This seems like a major rort to rip merchants off and I'm talking to my lawyer on Monday. And the Better Business Bureau. At the very least they could waive the removal fees. Has anyone had any success with Amazon doing this or is it just a fool's errand?
Thanks

Certainly you mean unfulfillable units? If they were fulfillable why remove them?
If the system will remove a unit because it's unfulfillable, I regulary get an email 1-2 days before the action. Don't you? Then I can go to the link in the email and cancel this removal order. Can't you? You cancel the removal order, update your removal settings and the removal order message will come again after 2-3 days.
Go check your emails if what you are saying is correct.....
Amazon is a self service platform. And if YOU put your settings to "Dispose" for unfulfillable inventory it's nobody's than your fault....

If the settings were set to dispose, the units will be disposed. Arbitrarily (not possible...) or not, you should have verified the settings.
But still, before the execution of a removal order the system will send an email before the action. Didn't you receive that message?
Amazon will not reimburse the removal fees because they will say that the system just followed your instructions.
Then probably you put the "shelf life" in your listing to 270 days. Check this. But again, if you put 270 days shelf life, the system will consider that the units have to be removed now. The products need shelf life + consumption time.

Hello @Seller_FFcEjhFAx2wGl. Thanks for those questions about automated removal. It looks like @Seller_rI7BZIczK8iAC provided you with good information about the topic.
The Automated fulfillable inventory removal seller help page has more information about this process and how to adjust your settings.
On Automated fulfillable inventory settings, select Return and enter a return address to have your inventory returned to you. Select Dispose to have your inventory donated, recycled if eligible, or disposed of.
"If you provide a return address on any Amazon automated removal service, we’ll return your inventory by default. If you don't configure your settings for liquidation or choose to opt out of the services, your inventory will be donated, recycled, or disposed of if no return address is provided."
Please check back if you still have questions about this process.
