VAT Exemption issue
Hello,
I am UK established company. I have provided my documents to Amazon to get VAT exemption in UK and it’s approved. I also want to sell in EU countries (Germany, France, etc.) I accidentally declared my VAT exemption status in EU too and I want to withdraw my declaration for VAT exemption status in EU and I want to be get charged by Amazon for VAT in EU countries. The problem here is when I withdraw my declaration in EU it does also applies to UK, when I declare my VAT exemption status in UK it also applies to EU. I wrote to seller support about this issue and they told me that if you declare your VAT exemption status it applies to all countries. Is there a way to be getting charged for VAT by Amazon automatically in EU countries and stay VAT exempted in UK.

They don’t. If you are registered as an overseas seller, then VAT will be deducted from your selling price and paid to the relevant government. Your price needs to be inclusive of all applicable taxes.

It is a condition of VAT exemption that you not be registered (or required to be registered) for VAT anywhere in the UK or EU. If you are registered for VAT in the EU then you you cannot be VAT ‘exempted’.

I am not VAT registered in anywhere yet since I am below the threshold, so I declared my VAT exemption in Amazon.co.uk. But in EU countries I want Amazon to handle the VAT for me and pay to government. Since Amazon normally add the VAT to the listing price and charge it automatically. But I don’t see that Amazon add VAT to my listing price when I listed an item in EU countries.

Do you live in UK?
If not, and you use uk fba , you are most likely a NETP and are therefore not eligible for uk vat exemption either

Is it worth the hassle of selling in Gernany, France etc if you’re under the 85k UK threshold (actually lower if you’re exempted as the fees need to go into that turnover calculation as well)
