Anyone at Amazon care to comment ?
Hello Amazon, and everyone else. Three or four days ago we changed the emall address associated with our Amazon account; this really should be a simple procedure, and one without consequences. Since then however, we have been bombarded by Amazon with multiple forms of guano, and our previously healthy account has ceased to function ! All other sites get this sort of thing right - we changed the email address on all our other sites without any problems whatsoever.
We have just opened a 'case' via Seller Help and are awaiting a response (24 hrs waiting time). Meanwhile let this serve as a warning that nothing on Amazon is simple and straightforward, and they are capable and willing to make a mess of anything; indeed that is almost their only function at times.

It's difficult, but these systems are in place to prevent somebody from changing your email and stealing your account.

While all that is very true why do Amazon have to be so obtuse when it comes to stuff like this, all that is required is to fill in the old email address, then the new one and confirm the new with an emailed link or code from the new email address. They always have to make the simple into Euclidian geometry.

Agreed. Amazon do take a very authoritarian approach. Just recently, myself and others had accounts suspended because charges were taken as Amazon decided to expand people to the UAE. My bank blocked the charge and it was a headache to get my account back. Usually it's pretty easy, but this time it was a pain. Meanwhile, completely unable to ship orders or anything else.
The commonsense approach would be to continue to give access but disallow disbursements. But this is Amazon.
I've contemplated setting up a limited company, but have heard horror stories of people losing their accounts.

Unfortunately, that would make it easy for hackers. All they need to do is send an email from amazone.co.uk, or similar, with a link to sellercentral.amazone.co.uk, looking identical to the amazon site. You log in, giving them your details, they log in to the proper site, change the email, click the link sent, as you suggested, and you lose access to your account. I don't know if there are ways round the 2FA, or it the hacker rely on some sellers that haven't set it up.
I haven't noticed any posts about hacked accounts recently, so the Euclidean geometry must be working for security. I wonder if Euclid sold his textbook on amazon.co.ancientgreek
