Cant charge return shipping charge when customer choses FALSE return code

We have customers use incorrect return codes constantly. Always saying item defective OR wrong item sent. When we read the notes they say that its the wrong size, or they ordered the wrong one or their dog doesn't like it.

When they do this and amazon auto refunds, we can file a safe t claim, but what do we do when they don't???

When amazon doesnt auto refund the customer, its up to me to go in and issue the refund however the option to charge return shipping doesnt appear when the customer lies about the return. The ONLY option i have is to charge a restocking fee, but the item is in perfect condition. Which again, the customer lied to get free return shipping. If I submit the refund and eat the charge, I cant then turn around and file a safe t claim can i?

i asked support for help on this and the answer was " you need to contact the customer and ask them to pay for the return shipping"

This is an insanely inappropriate response!!! How do we think that's going to be ok with the customer? Amazon lets them do this, amazon needs to let me charge it.

How do we get more educated people to help sellers? Right now they just read from the same place I can. They have no idea how this works. Im really disgusted at how i was treated with that, but that's another discussion.
