Why is Amazon going after FBM sellers for OTDR under 90%

Received this email from scAmazon today

Dear 7Malamute Team,Fast and accurate delivery is essential for customers and often determines where they choose to shop. Over time, we’ve learned that the best way to ensure reliable on-time delivery for customers is to set accurate Handling and Transit Times and to choose reliable shipping services. To help reduce late deliveries and improve delivery speeds, we’re updating our On-time delivery rate (OTDR) policy. Effective 09/23/2024 [60 days from today], you'll need to maintain a minimum 90% On-time delivery rate (OTDR) without promise extensions to have seller-fulfilled products listed on Amazon.com. We will start by addressing sellers with the lowest OTDR performance. This policy does not apply to offers using the Fulfilled by Amazon (FBA) service because sellers are not responsible for on-time delivery promises for FBA orders.Your current OTDR, calculated between 7/5/2024 and 7/18/2024 is 84.6%, which is below the required 90%.Having an OTDR below the required 90% may put your account at risk of losing the ability to have products listed as seller-fulfilled, however no actions are being taken at this time to deactivate your seller-fulfilled listings. See the below for recommendations on improving your OTDR.

I had 2 late deliveries in the past week.

YES I SHIPPED THEM BOTH ON TIME

YES I PURCHASED THE LABELS THROUGH AMAZON

One was expedited shipping. I purchased a Priority Mail Express label THROUGH AMAZON and the post office didn’t get it delivered within the guaranteed 2 days so I have a refund coming from USPS for the label. The other was delivered ON THE PROMISED DELIVERY DATE, but past the time.

Promised delivery date without extension:: 7/12/24 06:59:59 GMT

Actual delivery date: 7/12/24 19:31:00 GMT

What a joke.

This did kill my sales this week though. ScAmazon is such a small part of my business now that if they end up deactivating my listings I will just close my account. I do think they should take into consideration that if the label is purchased through amazon and the item is shipped on time that it is obviously the carriers fault and not hold it against the seller. Even a dummy like me could write the computer code required for that. So it must be that they are trying to get rid of FBM sellers. Just my 2 cents.

Yeah this is junk, Amazon fixing things that weren't broken and trying to get all FBM to go FBA...

Yes, I got 1 of these. My OTDR is 100% now, but since Amazon has now decided that the transit time should now be 5 days (not realistic for media mail) for FBM sellers not buying Amazon shipping, it's becoming clear that they really don't want me here any more. Well, it will be a relief if I get kicked off. I would rather quit Amazon than send my valuable books to FBA.

I was thinking maybe Amazon was trying to force us to use their shipping labels or maybe Veeqo, but now I see that doesn't make any difference. Are they instead trying to get us to use Amazon fulfillment? There simply is no logic behind penalizing a seller who ships an order on time, and the proper method, but the delivery company encounters a delay.

This is just another way for the machine to justify suspending your account and withholding your money. We (FBM'ers) have zero control over these logistic companies and how long it takes to deliver packages. USPS, UPS, Fed Ex, they all have issues delivering packages on (Amazon) time.

I found this:

If you purchase this shipping label and used Automated Handling Time (AHT) and Shipping Settings Automation (SSA), your OTDR will not be negatively impacted by late deliveries.

Why are they adding extensions to our delivery date? 4 additional days is what the buyer sees, but my order needs to arrive within 3 business days? I understand this is from history, but upon looking at my orders, only two were delivered 2-3 days past the due date.

This is a nightmare, especially for sellers who don't sell high volume.

and when did they remove the two day handing time? I don't see it on my account anymore. I really hope the mods give our feedback to the correct department. This will ruin businesses. Delays happen that are out of our control.

Just checked mine 92.86%, 78/84 Units. I purchased labels through amazon. I always drop packages during business hours as well. Orders are absolutely delivered one day earlier than promise. It was 100% until i saw your topic. How tf were there 6 units late? (I apologize for swearing).

Somebody might say Live goes on. But i'm about to quit dealing with this scrapazon soon.
