Amazon ruined my business
So I got the "verify your UK establishment for VAT purpose" email just like other sellers. I submitted the documents exactly as they requested it. My business is located and run in the UK but I am not a British citizen.
After several back to back, my account got deactivated(due to the VAT I guess) and they declared that they couldn't verify my business to be UK established.
I accepted defeat to Amazon and agreed to them that they are right even though they were not(what other option do I have). I agree to pay the VAT liability even though I did not collect sales tax on my sales since I started selling.
I was under the impression that businesses under the threshold of £85K do not have to collect taxes on sales.
After several back to back, lasting for several months, we came to an agreement of paying the VAT in a 6-month payment plan.
They took the first installment from my balance and said they would disburse the rest.
Here's the real issue;
1. Amazon took the first installment but never released the rest of my balance contrary to what they said.
2. My account still remain deactivated despite agreeing to been 'non-UK established' and paying the VAT liability.
3. Amazon refused to let me remove my inventory worth tens of thousands of £££££.
After several emails, all I receive is an templated email saying the same thing over and over. See attached.
I hope one day that Amazon gives sellers more respect than they currently do. A lot of us have our life depended on our business here and it is very sad they we get treated this way.
Good luck!

£85K Went uo in March Budget to £90k
If your a NON UK business as you are Overseas then that £90k is reduced to ZERO as I your a NETP which requires to resgister for VAT immediate on having stock in the UK
Amazon were froced to trawl through its asking for proof of UK residency as resu;t of a court case in early 2023. 100s of threads on this across this forum
You need to seek advice from a Accountant who deals in NETP and Oversea residents even if you have UK Passport.
