Shipping to Amazon FBA
Hi, my name is Laurence and I have recently just started selling on Amazon. I’ve sold a couple of items but have shipped them from my home address. I now want to look at bulk buying an order and shipping it straight to my local FBA centre, The shipping cost is £48.70 from the order site to me, How do I calculate my profits as when I use the Amazon seller app on my phone and input the shipping cost/sales cost/purchase cost/FBA fees, I get a huge loss due to the shipping cost. Now obviously I won’t make a loss if I sell all the products but how do I work it out?
I have a way but I’m not sure if it’s right. What I do is, MULTIPLE the sales cost by the quantity brought, then MINUS shipping cost & Amazon fees and that gives me my overall profit. E.g. £24.99X25=£624.75. FEES= £48.70+£150+(Price I paid for them)£98.95=£297.65. £624.75-£297.65=£327.10 (PROFIT)? The £150 is the FEES with FBA multiplied by the amount of products I have to sell. So £6 fees X 25. Is that correct?
I hope this isn’t too confusing I’ve tried to make it as easy as I possibly can. I would really appreciate any help provided.
Thank you,
Laurence

If you think that’s how FBA works, you probably need to do some more research. You send your stock to whichever FC Amazon choose when you create the shipment, using one of their preferred carriers, and even then Amazon may move the stock to one or more other FCs. It’s very unlikely to end up in your nearest one
Take a look at the Seller University videos on FBA to find out how it really works

Thank you for all your replies, it is very clear now that I didn’t have any idea what I was doing before. It all seems confusing and there is a lot more for me to learn and research first. Obviously I could just order them to my address and sell them personally but I feel getting Amazon to do the work and offer Prime is a better way to sell products. I will defiantly do some more research.

So this is the product that I’ve found on Amazon that I want to sell; https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08CZPVLNL
And this is the product I’ve found on Alibaba;
https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/2021-New-Arrival-Magsaf-Magnetic-Car_1600185601481.html
They are very similar and I have approval to sell this product on Amazon. Do you reckon to start with it’s best for me to order them to my address and sell them personally before sending them to FBA?
Do you see any issues with me selling this item on Amazon?
Thanks

Very similar is not good enough, it must be the EXACT same item and the same brand and in a lot of cases you need permission from that brand. To create your own listing you’ll need a barcode or request an exemption

This is all very confusing. I’m defiantly not ready to sell on Amazon yet then. I might stick to Ebay lol.
