The seller purchases it from the brand owner or the wholesale distributor that the brand owner authorized the seller to purchase and drop ship from.
You profit from the difference between the Amazon selling price and the wholesale cost.
This isn't an issue if you have an authorized drop shipping agreement with the wholesale distributor/brand owner.

This is correct, but you also just can't purchase from any brick and mortar or online retailer anyways, dropshipping or not.
