OTDR Policy

It is nearly impossible to follow the OTDR policy. Amazon is calculating delivery times that are too fast for the carriers we use. It forces us to use priority rates that force us to operate at a loss. Amazon, you need to change your policy. It will destroy many small businesses like ours.

It will only be a huge issue if your "handling time gap" is over the magic '2'.

You have to look here to find yours --

Mine is sitting at 1.6 days so I'm currently 'safe' from Amazon forcing their latest policies on me.

You can try setting things up so that you can DELAY shipping. There are a large number of threads about sellers doing that.

Set you CAPACITY to 1 so every order that comes in after that extends the ship by and deliver by dates.

Only Amazon can screw things up by forcing sellers to give WORSE service to buyers.

See this thread for just one example.

Unfortunately, that is exactly Amazons goal.

We all should email Jeff. This is crazy. We have amazing feedback! Amazon delivers late all the time. Things happen! Once tracking is inputed, buyers can see when their package will be delivered. Regardless if they don't receive after 3 days of the promised date shown, they can file a claim and get a refund. So why are they forcing this on us? one day late, one day early is not a big deal to customers!

Are you using SSA? If so, shut it off and set up your own delivery times. SSA will over-promise forcing you to use faster (and more expensive) shipping.

i had an order where the package was delivered to the customers post office on time, but the customer picked up the package 5 days later. Ding to my OTDR. insanity.

Sellers need to be consulted about this. Whoever thought about this system is incompetent and doesn't understand the business. Should be fired. The software they created will automatically calculate handling and delivery times forcing you to operate at the peak. We hire extra ppl for the holiday season to beat the season delays. We usually ship same day and now we will be forced to operate like that the entire year. It's not doable.

Agreed. My mantra has always been, under promise, over perform. And that we are with our FBM business. Tried SSA once, got out of it inside 2 weeks. Why would I want to spend MORE than needed to get a product to a customer. Same with Seller Fulfilled Prime, why on earth would I spend $15-20-25 to ship a $28-50 item? Sorry - that's just stupid. If Amazon gave us what they actually pay to ship Prime, I'd look at it again.

How can we keep amazon liable for FBA products that are shipped and delayed by Amazon. Since they want to control every aspect of our shipping process removing by 2 day default shipping and forcing us to do SSA Automation. We almost have no choice to opt in otherwise our account can get suspended and forced to do FBA. We should not be responsible for packages that are shipped on time and delivered late by the carrier. That is not our fault but the carriers. However, amazon is making us responsible by punishing us and threating everyday sellers their loss of selling privileges and account suspension risk. Although my packages are shipped on time with a claims protected stamp through amazon buy shipping service, I still receive claims from customers at times saying my package has not been delivered although it had been. The claims than hurt my account health because the agent or the bot looking at the claim ignores the fact that package was shipped on time. Amazon continuously fails to uphold it's own policy and almost punishing the sellers for it. My question is how can we keep amazon liable for their delayed shipments since they want to control every aspect of ours?
