Charged for individual account then deactivated!?

like the heading says I tried to sign up for the individual account which shows you don’t get billed monthly, however you get a fee on each items you sell. After starting the process it showed account pending so I left it. Today I checked my emails and seen I had been charged £30! Then a further £1 twice ! After this my account was deactivated. I’ve tried everything to get through to Amazon and each call cuts off and no tickets have been answered ! This is fraud and was expecting more from Amazon. Anyone know how I can regain my cash and short this. It’s already taken half a day

There are several types of account with Amazon. Two of which are the selling plan. You may have signed up for an individual account, but a professional plan, where you are charged a monthly fee. You should be able to downgrade your plan to stop future monthly fees. If you haven't sold anything so far, you may be able to request a refund through seller support for the fees already charged.

The Individual ACCOUNT is not the same as the individual selling PLAN.-

The Individual Seller Account is ONLY for selling off your own personal secondhand items eg. books, DVDs, CDs etc, and NOT for items that you buy to sell on for profit - for that you need an Amazon BUSINESS Seller Account, but can still be on the individual plan, and need to be registered with HMRC as self-employed (possibly as a sole-trader ?)

When you signed up to sell you will have clicked on the orange button 'Sign Up' and that automatically signs you up for the professional selling PLAN which is the £30 a month.

So you do not pay any more pro. plan fees you need to downgrade the selling plan to individual plan (sadly Amazon have used the same name for two totally different things, and many are confused - and many of us long-time sellers have tried to get Amazon to change the name, but no !)

Go to Settings (cog wheel top right) - Account Info - Sell on Amazon - Manage your services - Sell on Amazon (again !) - click the button for individual instead of professional, and you will not be charged again.

To get a refund you will need to open a case with Seller Support 'Help', and request a refund of unused fees.

I had two options prof seller account and then under individual that is all, didn’t say more options. Also I didn’t use the account and it’s been deactivated before it was activated, this makes me wonder why I’ve been billed atall. I tried to dispute this with more details and it not says the name on the account doesn’t match the name on the documents I sent however they do. This is a nightmare and I don’t see any option buttons to change this I’ve looked there everything. How do I access seller central and can I do this even tho I’ve been deactivated and can’t reactivate the account ??

I pushed the cog at the top however the options you suggest aren’t showing like account , selling on Amazon ? I can’t see these ?

Cog > Account Info > right hand side under manage your services - Sell on Amazon > then again to see your options

Professional is NOT the name of an account type, but one of the selling plans.

There are two seller account types (known as the legal entity) - Business and Individual Seller Account, and two selling plans: professional and individual.

All new seller accounts are deactivated whilst they check and verify the info you have provided, both personal ID and business info. and currently this can take a while as so many new sellers signing up every day.

As I explained in my previous reply, you have been billed because you signed up for the professional selling plan (which is NOT the same as Business) - they automatically sign you up for that as soon as you click on the orange 'Sign Up' button - you need to read the small print underneath it - it says: "£25 (excl. VAT) per month + selling fees"

A question to answer to help you get sorted out !

Are you buying books to sell on for profit, or are these your own personal books you are wanting to sell ?

I pushed the cog at the top ... - you don't need to push it, just hover and you will then see the option for 'account info' - the first on the list. Then follow what I told you before and as in Apricot_Whirl's reply.

the name on the account doesn’t match the name on the documents I sent however they do - do they match EXACTLY - Amazon very fussy about being exactly the same in every way, so if you are Mr J. Smith, and documents say Mr J.R. Smith they may reject - it is all done by bots, not humans !!
