Amazon is granting A to Z Claims to thieves and scammers

Dear Amazon,

A customer ordered a product from me valued at $4,262.98

The customer confirmed they received the product in perfect condition.

The order number is 702-1935260-2337824

Amazon gave this customer a full refund of $4,262.98 and they did not require the customer to return the product to me.

I am requesting that Amazon reverses this fraudulent A to Z Claim and return the money to me.

I don't understand why Amazon is working with thieves and scammers to steal from their sellers.

This is not the first time it's happened. I am extremely upset that Amazon deducted $4,262.98 from my bank checking account.

I sent the customer numerous messages through Amazon Messaging and they refuse to respond. I don't have any way to contact the customer to request they send it back to me.

I would like this money returned to me. Thank you.

Hello @Seller_yU10W2TDP8gOW

This is Christine from Amazon Forums.

I was checking the A to Z claim to have a better understanding of this situation.

And I do see in this case the order was shipped after the ship date, and it was delivered after the max EDD which was on 26/5/2023 and this package show as delivered on 8/9/2023.

For this reason, the claim was granted.

Please see our guidelines for shipping in point number 1 in the help page below:

Prevent an A-to-z Guarantee claim

Amazon’s A-to-z Guarantee claims

Hope you have a better understanding of the decision of the claim.

Christine.

I understand 4k is a hard bite for any seller. I feel for you. But AZ has already informed you why the A2Z claim was granted. If you mange to get back your money and/or the product, consider yourself blessed.

I strongly recommend for you to revise your shipping and handling times to ensure this doesn't happen again.

I also recommend to view my A2Z checklist. Perhaps it will help mitigate such situations. here is the link:

Thank you, I appreciate your help!

The main reason it was delivered late is the customer would not pay the customs duty tax to UPS. I paid all the customs taxes, UPS import duty fees, and brokerage fees to ensure it was delivered.

Was there a signature on the package? I understand the seller shipped it late and due to duties not being paid the delivery was late but should this be grounds for the customer to get $4k in free product?

I think the seller paying for the return is reasonable but I am not sure getting the product for free is reasonable.

If there is proof the order would have been received on time if the customer signed and paid the duties I think this is a little harsh.

We do not sell into the US from Canada due to examples like this as shipping times can be affected but a lot of things out side the sellers control when boarders are involved.

Good luck, I hope you get the product back,

I would suggest, in this situation, try to contact the customer to reach an agreement and take the product back at your cost?

This would minimize the loss, at least.

I would simply stay polite, always, and say that you understand the product was delivered later than expected, whatever the reason is.

Then, ask the buyer if you can organize a pick up in front of his delivery address, the day of his choice since he has been fully refunded. I have resolved numerous A-to-Z claims this way. Most customers will agree to this even after opening A-to-Z claims and being refunded because they would look very unreasonable to ignore it.

If he doesn't respond/avoid talkiing to you, confirming he is just a scammer, make sure he understands he does not have legal rights to the product anymore.

I wouldn't take legal action against customers unless you have really tried everything else and that you are 100% sure of the situation. It will be more costly and I am not sure if you can have problems with Amazon, they always take the customer's side.

For more difficult customers that clearly want to abuse the system, make sure he understands that the transaction has been cancelled at his demand and therefore the product is not his proprety anymore. Sometimes even a ''legal letter'' written with AI can be dissuasive for scammers. Anything to avoid sueing a customer and wasting more time and money.

One important thing to mention is the reason stated on the A-to-Z claim. Most of the time, it doesn't make sense.

Like ''order not received'' while it has been received, but 24 hours later than expected. This can be used when you contact the customer.

Yes it would appear that the seller screwed up here with their delivery date and yes technically based on policy the seller lost the claim. But regardless of late delivery or not can someone please tell me of other business that would refund over $4,000.00 without getting a return of the product? I know of none.

Yes I can certainly see where a discount is in order if the seller was that late on delivery but for the customer to receive the FULL amount when they do have the the product is ridiculous! This nonsense needs to stop.

It is easy for amazon to grant almost all A-Z claims. The money is not coming out of their bank account. It's always the seller that takes the hit.

Was there a signature on the package? I understand the seller shipped it late and due to duties not being paid the delivery was late but should this be grounds for the customer to get $4k in free product?

I think the seller paying for the return is reasonable but I am not sure getting the product for free is reasonable.
