Product review manipulation by competitor

We t3cently received a false review from a competitor giving us a 1 star review. We have applied to Amazon to have it removed, presenting all the necessary evidence.
However we have had a message via our own website from a “real” customer saying she tried to leave is a product review but A,pmazon are prohibiting anyone now leaving a review on our products.
Anyone out there experienced this issue and if so how did you resolve?
Thanks in advance

How exactly do you know it’s a competitor?

Anyone can review your products, even without purchasing them. How do you know it’s a competitor?

Product reviews which are not against the Community Guidelines normally won’t be removed. However, there are sellers who are willing to spend ages fighting for the removal by reopening cases and eventually manage to find a badly trained rep, who will comply with their request and remove a review which doesn’t violate the rules. So you can try your luck if you want.

Regarding buyer’s inability to review your products, Amazon most likely blocked this function due to unusual reviewing activity, such as a suspiciously high review rate compared to similar products in the same category.

If buyers are messaging you to let you know that they are unable to leave you a review, this alone is suspicious. You must be soliciting them somehow, in a way which Amazon doesn’t like.

Here you can check, whether any of your ASINs can be reviewed:

Use this link (put the ASIN at the end) when not being logged in as the seller.

We have had the same problem, customer keeps coming back and buying and leaving negative reviews. Good periods in between, always same product groups.

When I spoke to seller central, they got it, saw the problem and agreed abuse.

However its a communities problem, who look at reviews in isolation. As long as it doesn’t contain abuse. They will not remove it.

After 8 attempts I go through to a senior level in Ireland. They expressed their frustration on seller central because they admit its systemic and in effect just creates a race to the bottom. Negative feedback abuse (of course not all feedback is abuse and some is fair) hurts everyone, Amazon commissions and the sellers.

The most amusing thing I found, its impossible for seller central to speak to communities team. They dont even know who they are, where they are. They can only fill in the form.

Seller central actually advised me to post on this forum as it does get monitored, in hope penny will drop!

Can’t do a thing. I guess most of good sellers get this crap. I’d even have 1 review asking customers to buy from other sites for cheaper price & amazon don’t even care even after numerous report.
