When and How to Use Pre-orders and Back-orders

Hello Sellers,

Have you ever wondered about the differences between pre-orders and back-orders? Here's what you need to know:

Pre-orders allow you to accept orders for products that haven't been released yet, enabling customers to purchase in advance of the release date. This is particularly useful when you're launching new products and want to gauge interest or secure sales before the official release.

Back-orders are for existing products that are temporarily out of stock but will be available again when restocked. This option helps you maintain sales momentum even when inventory is depleted, allowing customers to place orders whilst waiting for your restock.

You can set up these options through Seller Central:

  • For pre-orders, specify the product's release date during listing creation
  • For back-orders, set a restock date for your out-of-stock items

Both options require shipping within 30 days and are not available for Fulfilment by Amazon products or Music, Video and DVD items.

Why does Amazon allow such incompetence?

Why is it that there are so many errors in the Amazon catalogue that it is a joke, well, it would be a joke if it wasn't so serious, images in green the product is pink, 12 pack of an item when it is only one, so many different issues with incorrect listings and nobody will listen, seller support are powerless, the catalogue team don't talk to seller support and there is nobody else to appeal to, so the only option is to remove the listing or get a customer complaint for incorrect items and the listing remains for the World to see with serious errors.

Sellers could resolve this issue if only someone would listen, if a seller supplies images and 100% proof that a listing is incorrect, then why can it not be changed?

This issue with the catalogue is now at a level where it is making Amazon look completely incompetent and causing huge issues with returns and bad customer service.

When Amazon expect such high standards from sellers, why are there such poor standards in Amazon itself?

discussion.Why is it so difficult to close an Amazon account? I did a complete removal of my products from Amazon's warehouse in January. I received all my items and I paid all applicable fees. I deleted all my listings, and have been awaiting the 3 months time frame after my last order. It's been more than 3 months and I still can't close my account. Amazon keeps telling me that I have stranded sku's at their warehouse and even though I've explained that whatever items they have does not belong to me, they can't seem to understand. The customer service is zero help, it's as if they lack understanding no matter how many times I try to explain that the information in their system is incorrect, and they are adding someone else's products to my inventory.

I have been advised by Account Health Support to reach out through this forum to request the help of the forum admins.

I Have spoken to various mid-level agents in Seller Support Leadership and Account Health Support Leadership about an issue (Case ID 9672281942). These conversations always end with the agent(s) advising me that they are unable to deal with the issue and they are going to escalate the matter up to the UK Executive Team (UK Head Office).

The case has been going on for over a year now and I have not yet spoken to the UK Executive Team.

I am now also getting Policy Violations for contacting Seller Support and Account Health Support to pursue this matter.

The agent I spoke to earlier today (Account Health Support) advised that I should reach out to the admins on the forum as they may have better luck getting this escalated up to the UK Executive Team (UK Head Office).

Elana from Acount Health Support Leadership spoke to me 9th March, x3 phone calls over several hours that day. After making a real effort to figure it out, she admitted defeat and advised she would be escalating up to the UK Executive Team (UK Head Office). This is not the first time I have been told to expect an escalation call back from the UK Executive Team (UK Head Office). I have spoken to them in the past about other issues (so I know they exist and they have phones), but they have not called me back about this new issue (yet).

Can somebody at Amazon actually get this escalated to a very senior level where they can call me back and deal with this please.

Hello

My application for brand registry was rejected, because " the brand is already enrolled".

The brand has just been registered with UKIPO. I am not the owner, but I am the first to be authorized. It has never been registered on Amazon UK as I confirmed with the brand owner.

Could you please review the case and tell us the exact reason why the brand is enrolled?

Just went to puchase a Royal Mail label from buy shipping on Amazon and its removed the option, just had Hermes/Evri??? Is this a gitch or a new change?

More and more I'm getting customers (rightly) annoyed at items (2nd class letter size) taking up to 9-10 working days to deliver. Often the replacement & original turn up on the same day - in other words, holding back mail until they have enough to 'justify' going to that address.

Yes, I offer 1st class upgrades from letters up to ParcelForce sizes. But not many are willing to pay the extra charge, especially for a low value item.

Anyone else experiencing the same?

We are a UK importer. We already have alcohol category approval but are not managing to ungate the Grocery and Gourmet category.

We have provided final invoices from the brand owner for 1,000 of units but keep getting rejected without an explanation, apart from to say that it is due to the invoice. We are the only company that import this brand into the UK but other companies that we supply are able to sell it on Amazon.

Hi guys, This is absolutely a huge plea for help, im beyond lost with this now, and i consider myself extremely computer literate, I work with alot of code , design websites and more, keep myself present on github, i know the ins and outs of everything about the internet, i can build, fix and do anything with computers, i know how to build a house from footings to roof from 10+ years of building experience but YOU KNOW WHAT I AM NOT CAPABLE OF DOING!?!? Fixing my amazon seller.

As seller central has no live chat and lets be honest no real support at all for people looking to sell on amazon, as everyone knows you have to go through the very meticulous process of submitting information at the hope its correct, wait for a week and get a message back with a templated messaged that includes links to stuff you've gone onto a 1000 times already.

I have been told I am connected to another seller account - I have gone through every single one of my emails and cannot find a single other seller account that's activated or present for me to access, Every other account i have when logging into the seller central UK, directs me to amazon pay or tells me the email has no account connected to it.

I have tried connecting my main account to other accounts using global accounts connection to see if that works, nothing.

I have tried logging into the amazon pay accounts and closing them but i can't close them without verifying information, one of the limits of verifying that information is having a valid website URL, seeing as i'm not going to spend time building website for every amazon pay i've accidentally opened or didn't use in the past, But as advised by amazon support, the amazon pay accounts have NO correlation to amazon seller!

The Weird exception to this rule here, is that amazon are telling me i have a 2nd seller account which is under the same name, MY CURRENT ACCOUNT USE TO TO BE - It's like the system has not registered that the accounts are one and the same just i changed the name and email address.

I've explained this in upwards of 20 support cases to which i get the same boring useless templated response telling me to upload information and PROVE HOW I HAVE NO CONNECTION - how do you prove how you have no connection to an account you don't have access to or does not exist.

im sorry, amazon live in a reality I don't.

Does anyone here, have a solution, some magical wand im missing, i am losing my mind

I cant reiterate to amazon anymore that i do not own, posses have or ever had a second account and they won't give me any further information so i can't do anymore.

I just want a blank slate at this point but i can't delete accounts without verifying them, the irony is, one of my amazon pay has 0 performance faults/notifications or health issues and it still wont let me close it.

This seems unlikely because I have been able to list other Picador titles without such approval required. I have listed it on Ebay without any such nonsense-any thoughts please,

Amazon Holding my Money - Account Level Reserve

hi everyone,

I have been selling on Amazon since May 2024, and in that time have maintained relatively consistent sales.

All of my products are shipped via FBA,

Recently Amazon have been increasing my reserve amount every single month, now to the point there is over 6k in reserve, I have contacted Amazon over 15 times in the last 2 months and have had 0 conclusion just the same automated response.

Has anyone else had this? I have no account health issues, no A-Z claims, no open charge backs so no idea why Amazon will not pay out,

This money is from over 3 months of sales so there is no reason for them to keep it it has all cleared and they just keep increasing the reserve,

Hope someone can help!
